Creative direction for clearer, stronger visual communication.
I help individuals, businesses and organisations shape the way they communicate visually and verbally.
This might involve developing the creative direction for a brand, reviewing a website, shaping a campaign, improving printed or digital communication, or helping you understand why your current materials no longer feel quite right. My role is to bring clarity, structure and creative judgement to the work, before, during and after the design process.
When creative direction can help

Creative direction is useful when you know something needs to be clearer, stronger or more joined-up, but you are not yet sure what needs to change. It can help when your website no longer reflects who you are, your brand feels inconsistent, your message is difficult to explain, or your printed and digital materials feel disconnected. It can also help at the start of a new project, when you have ideas but no agreed direction, or when you need an experienced outside eye to help you make better creative decisions.

What I can help with
Brand direction
Defining the look, feel, message and creative approach behind your brand.
Visual identity
Developing or refining the visual elements that make your communication recognisable and consistent.

Designing or improving brochures, reports, leaflets, posters, publications and other printed materials.
Presentations and pitches
Helping you communicate ideas clearly through structure, design and visual storytelling.
Messaging and tone
Clarifying what you need to say and how it should sound.
Creative reviews
Looking at existing material and identifying what is working, what is unclear and what needs to improve.
Design development
Taking ideas, sketches or early designs and developing them into stronger, more resolved communication.
Communication strategy
Thinking through audience, purpose, message, format and creative route.
How we might work together
UNDERSTANDING ›
We will start by looking at where you are now, what you are trying to communicate and what feels unclear.
CLARITY ›
We will identify the message, audience, purpose and creative problem behind the work.
SHAPE ›
We will develop the creative direction, the look, feel, tone, structure and priorities.

Need a clearer creative direction?
If your communication feels unclear, inconsistent or no longer quite right, we can start by looking at where you are now and what needs to change.
You do not need to have the answer before getting in touch. That is often what the creative direction process is for.
